Scrub typhus, also known as jungle typhus, is an acute infectious disease caused by Rickettsia tsutsugamushi. It is a natural infectious disease. Rodents are the main infectious source and chigger mites are the vectors. Most patients have a history of field work, and the incubation period is 5-20 days. The clinical manifestations are varied and complex, and there are many complications, which often lead to multiple organ damage. The onset of the disease is rapid, with high fever, toxemia, rash, eschar and lymph node enlargement. Severe cases can be life-threatening due to heart, lung and kidney failure. Tsutsugamushi disease is mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of Asia Pacific, especially in Southeast Asia, Australia and the Far East, and has gradually spread to temperate regions in recent years. At least 1 billion people worldwide are at risk of developing the disease each year, with about 1 million cases occurring.

Test material
1. Scrub typhus IgG/IgM Rapid test kit (colloidal gold) for outside donor diagnosis only. The test should only be used to detect Zinjimizz antibodies in whole blood/serum/plasma specimens. This qualitative test can determine neither the quantitative value of Tsugagi’s antibody nor its increase rate.

2. The rapid IgG/IgM test kit (colloidal gold) only indicates the presence of Jinjimushi antibody in the specimen and should not be used as the sole criterion for the diagnosis of Jinjimushi infection.

3. As with all diagnostic tests, all results must be interpreted along with other clinical information available to the physician.
4. If the test results are negative and clinical symptoms persist, additional tests using other clinical methods are recommended. A negative result does not rule out the possibility of infection at any time.
