The leptospirosis IgG/IgM Rapid Test kit is a side-flow immunoassay used to simultaneously detect and differentiate IgG and IgM antibodies of leptospirosis intertypes (Irogans) in human serum, plasma, or whole blood. It is intended to be used as a screening test and as an aid in the diagnosis of interstitial listeria infection. Any reactive specimen that is rapidly tested using a leptospira IgG/IgM combination must be confirmed using other testing methods. Leptospirosis occurs worldwide and is a common mild to severe health problem in humans and animals, especially in regions with hot and humid climates. The natural hosts of leptospirosis are rodents as well as various domesticated mammals. Human infections are caused by circumplasma, a pathogenic member of the leptospira genus. The infection is spread through the urine of the host animal. After infection, leptospira is present in the blood until cleared 4 to 7 days after the production of anti-L antibodies. Interphase antibodies, originally IgM class. Blood, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid cultures are effective means of confirming the diagnosis in the first 1-2 weeks after exposure. Serological detection of antibodies against Meso-leigh syndrome is also a common diagnostic method.
