The Langya Henipvirus rapid assay is a lateral flow chromatography immunoassay used for qualitative detection of Langya Henipvirus antigen in human serum, plasma, or whole blood. Any rapid viral antigen test for an active sample carrying Langya Henipavirus must be confirmed with alternative tests and clinical trials.
Langya Henipavirus Virus
Langya Henipavirus Virus is one of the important emerging causes of zoonosis in the Asia-Pacific region. Two viruses in this genus are known to infect humans: Hendra virus (HeV) and Nipah virus (NiV). The natural host of both viruses is fruit bats. Both viruses cause severe disease in animals and humans and are classified as biosafety Level 4 viruses with a case fatality rate of between 40% and 75%.
