Treponema Pallidum is called Treponema pallidum because it is transparent and not easy to stain. It can be dyed peachy red with Jimsa dyeing. It is a treponema, a soft and slender spiral, shaped like metal shavings, about 6-12μm long, 0.09-0.18μm wide, with 8-12 neat and uniform spirals.
