Protein Inducedby Vitamin KAbsenceor Antagonist-II(PIVKA-II)
PIVKA-II is a vitamin K-dependent protein that is normally found only in liver cells. When liver cancer develops, cancer cells release large amounts of PIVKA-II, causing elevated levels of PIVKA-II in the blood. Therefore, testing PIVKA-II levels in the blood can help diagnose liver cancer.
