The rapid detection of malaria Pf/Pv Ag is a side-flow chromatography immunoassay. Strip test components include: 1) Burgundy color coupling pads containing mouse anti-PV-LDH antibodies coupled to colloidal gold conjugate (PV-LDH-gold conjugate) and mouse anti-PHRP-II antibodies coupled to colloidal gold conjugate (PHRP-II-gold conjugate), and 2) nitrocellulose film strips containing two test bands (Pv and Pf bands) and control bands (C bands). The Pv strip was pre-coated with another mouse anti-PV-LDH specific antibody to detect Pv infection, the Pf strip was pre-coated with polyclonal anti-PHRP-II antibody to detect Pf infection, and the C strip was coated with goat anti-mouse IgG. The malaria Pf/Pv Ag Rapid assay is a side-flow chromatography immunoassay for the simultaneous detection and differentiation of Plasmodium falciparum (Pf) and vivax Plasmodium (Pv) antigens in human blood samples. The device is intended to be used as a screening test and as an adjunct to diagnosing plasmodium infection. Any reactive sample using the malaria Pf/Pv Ag rapid test must be confirmed using alternative detection methods and clinical findings.
