Rotavirus was first discovered in the ultra-thin section of duodenal mucosa in children with acute non-bacterial gastroenteritis in 1973 by Australian scholar Bishop et al. Rotavirus is an important pathogen of diarrhea in humans, mammals and birds. Rotavirus is distributed worldwide, group A~C rotavirus can cause human and animal diarrhea, group D~G only cause animal diarrhea.
