Leishmania
The rapid test for Leishmania antigen is a qualitative test for the subspecies L. donovani in human serum, plasma, or whole blood. This test can be used for screening and diagnosis of visceral leishmaniasis. Any response sample for a rapid Leishmania antigen test must be confirmed with an alternative test method.

Leishmania refers to the trypanozoan family of the genus Leishmania, a parasite that causes leishmaniasis, transmitted in the Old World by a sandfly of the genus Phlebotomus, and in the New World by a sandfly of the genus Sandfly.
