Helicobacter pylori includes Helicobacter Canis, Helicobacter gastri, Helicobacter nigeri, Helicobacter lapni and Helicobacter Salomoni, etc. Helicobacter pylori is a Gram-negative bacterium with spiral shape, micro-aerobic, and very demanding growth conditions. It was first successfully isolated from gastric mucosa biopsy tissue of chronic active gastritis in 1983. It is a species of microorganism known to survive in the stomachs of animals such as macaques, rats, pigs, and dogs. Although candida albicans and Aspergillus can also grow in the stomach, it is relatively rare to induce gastric mycosis.
Helicobacter pylori disease includes gastritis caused by Helicobacter pylori infection, gastrointestinal ulcer, lymphoproliferative gastric lymphoma and so on. An adverse consequence of helicobacter pylori disease is stomach cancer.
