Transferrin (TRF)
Transferrin (TRF) is a plasma protein that serves as a carrier for iron in the body. It is made up of four subunits: alpha, beta, gamma, and delta. Each subunit has a different molecular weight and functions differently in the transport of iron.
Transferrin (TRF)
TRF helps to regulate the amount of iron in the body by binding to and carrying it across the placenta during pregnancy or through the placenta after birth. It also plays a role in the storage and distribution of iron in non-pregnant individuals. TRF deficiency can lead to anemia due to poor iron absorption from food.
