CA125 is a glycoprotein that exists in the ovary, endometrium, pleura and other tissues under normal circumstances, but in some disease states, such as ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, breast cancer, its expression will be significantly increased.

Detection of antibodies against the CA125 antigen can be used to assist in the diagnosis of these cancers. In general, elevated levels of the CA125 antigen antibody may indicate that a patient is at risk for certain types of cancer or tumor recurrence. However, it is important to note that an elevated CA125 antigen antibody level does not necessarily mean that the patient has cancer, because some other non-malignant diseases can also cause an elevated CA125 antigen antibody level.
