Rhinovirus (RhV) was isolated in 1956 by scientists such as Pelon from specimens from patients with respiratory infections by tissue culture and other methods. More than 120 rhinoviruses have been identified, making them the most serotyped virus among human viruses. Rhinoviruses are the main pathogens that cause the common cold. The virus is the main cause of acute respiratory diseases, and nearly half of all acute respiratory disease infections are caused by rhinovirus infections.
